Family Voices of Wisconsin (FVW) is seeking an individual to join our team who has a passion for helping families of children with disabilities or special healthcare needs. The person best suited for this position has skills and knowledge of non-profit grant writing, grant reporting, financial and project management and can additionally provide organizational and infrastructure support.

FVW is a non-profit based in Madison, Wisconsin, whose staff work virtually from their homes. Our staff are family members with lived experience of having children with disabilities. FVW served families throughout Wisconsin for more than 25 years and is a valued partner working with families and professionals.

The focus of FVW is on health care and community support for children and youth with special health care needs and disabilities and their families. FVW seeks to make complex information accessible and understandable to families and supports families in having a voice in the systems in which their children participate. FVW is the Wisconsin affiliate of the National Family Voices organization and Wisconsin’s federally recognized Family-to-Family Health Information Center.

This position is 50 -75% FTE (19-28 hours/week) beginning August 2024. This is work-from-home position within the traditional business hours of 8 – 5 pm, Monday – Friday.  FVW offers annual cost of living increases, reimbursement for some home-office expenses, and a financial contribution toward individual health insurance. Parents of children with disabilities or special health care needs are encouraged to apply. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Development and Operations Manager will be responsible for diversifying and identifying potential funding sources for FVW and writing grants to apply for these funds, developing and submitting grant reports, collaborating with staff to manage project deliverables and work activities, and working with FVW’s accountant to monitor budgets and keep records. The FVW Director will supervise this position, and the FVW staff work together and meet virtually weekly.

Essential Functions:

      • Collaborate with the FVW Director, staff and Board of Directors to develop an annual fundraising plan
      • Seek out and apply for grants, sponsorships and other funding partnerships
      • Assure all federal and state reporting requirements are met
      • Monitor and submit grant reports to funding agencies as required
      • In collaboration with the FVW accountant and Director, monitor the annual budget, account receivables, and account payables
      • Develop annual combined work plan based on individual grant/project deliverables and monitor with staff
      • Collaborate with FVW staff on yearly and strategic planning, identifying growth opportunities
      • Support the mission and growth of FVW
      • Communicate regularly with the FVW Director
      • Willingness to attend / cover important meetings in the occasional absence of the Director
      • May require occasional in-person meetings as necessary

Qualifications:

      • Experience in non-profit grant writing and fundraising
      • Excellent persuasive writing, storytelling, and editing skills
      • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to balance many priorities
      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team with an open, positive attitude
      • Proficient in essential Microsoft Office applications
      • A strong belief in the value of diversity, equity and inclusion
